Adoption has always been a part of our family plan: we wanted to have both a biological child and an adopted child. After losing a number of pregnancies over a 2-year span, along with the toll of subsequent tests & surgeries, we decided it was time to move on to the next step in our plan. While the losses were heartbreaking, already having adoption in our hearts helped us to heal & move forward. We immediately started looking for jobs back in the US & six months later we found ourselves in the perfect location, Hawaii, a place known for a deep respect for `ohana, or family. Because we have chosen to adopt our child from China, we have the opportunity to embrace a new culture and will be traveling overseas to meet our child.
