Thank you so much for your interest in my adoption journey. Of all my life experiences, this is by far the one I'm most excited (and nervous) about. My adoption journey began in 2014, after surgery made natural birth no longer an option for me. Circumstances led me to finally acknowledge my longing to be a mother, feelings I had ignored for a long time because I was single. I began to think seriously about adoption, which had always been of interest to me. In my research, I learned that single-parent adoption was no longer taboo and was now quite common. This was good news to me, and I made the decision to go for it! I think God opened my mind and heart to adoption long ago, perhaps to prepare me for when the time was right. I can hardly wait to experience complete joy and devotion to another human being. I pray everyday that I will be a blessing to a child and the kind of mother and parent that a child needs. I already know that my life will be completely changed and enriched by any child I am fortunate enough to parent. Unfortunately the cost of adoption can be steep. My costs include agency fee ($23,500), attorney fee ($1,000), and potential travel and expenses for an out-of-state adoption ($1,000). I'm applying for a few grants that will hopefully cover some of the costs, and I'm using my savings.
