God planted a very small seed in both of our hearts to consider adoption while we were engaged. Though we both knew it was something we would like to do in the future, we never imagined it would be how our family would start. Little did we know what God had in store! Over the course of our 3 years of marriage, we have been facing a very difficult health issue that has affected Kaela's ability to become pregnant (at least for the near future). It has been a difficult journey, but by the power of God working in our lives, He transformed our mess into something beautiful. Though the situation with my health remains difficult, we have been given an overwhelming peace. He has tested our faith, increased our reliance on Him alone, and made our marriage stronger and sweeter in the process. Like Paul, we have realized how "we can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us to develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation." (Rom. 5:3-4) We praise God, for there have been several good things come from this trial--one being our desire to begin our family through adoption! Through much prayer and the Lord's guidance in our lives, we are confident this is what He has in store for the beginning of our family and are excited to see what comes next.
